What We Do
The Wine Society is one of the longest-standing societies at the University of Bath, it has been running continuously for over 40 years, almost as long as there has been a University at Claverton Down. Some of those founding members still have links with the society today, and a handful of our members have gone on to pursue careers in the world of wine, we even have a Master of Wine amongst our alumni!
We hold weekly wine tastings on Tuesday evenings starting at 7:30 pm, which lasts until about 10:30 pm, usually followed by a trip to one of the many pubs in Bath. During a tasting we taste about 8 different wines in a very relaxed and social setting, the perfect opportunity to wind down after a busy day. Come along to learn more about wine, meet new people, and have a great time!
As well as the committee-led tastings we also have external speakers who come in to showcase their wines. A highlight each year is the Pol Roger champagne tasting (Churchill's favourite wine).
We welcome members who might know something about wine, as well as those who don't know anything at all!
