Important Update Regarding Society Elections
Thank you for your participation in the SU Elections this year. Now that we have completed the by-elections, you can co-opt any vacant roles within your committee. You can find the results of the elections and which roles remain vacant within your committee by clicking the election results above.
Please see below for the process for co-opting. Please note, this is slightly different to the co-opting process that is ongoing throughout the year, so please read this carefully.
- The committee will advertise the available position(s) to all current members. You can only co-opt for the positions that were not filled in the elections. We are not currently accepting the creation of new committee positions.
- Candidates will need to submit their nominations to the committee, manifestos are not compulsory.
- Committee members will then review the nominations and vote. We ask that both outgoing and incoming committee members vote in this case.
- The results of the co-option and new candidate(s) details will need to be submitted here. We need to be able to clearly see the position, name of the individual(s) and that the candidate won by majority, which means all committee members need to vote if possible. Please submit screenshots of the poll(s) via the Microsoft form, we will not accept the co-option without this.
- Once we have the details of the new member, we will send them information about the SU Groups Training Conference, taking place on Tuesday 29 April and Thursday 1 May.
We strongly encourage you to co-opt in any vacant roles, but particularly your Chair and/or Treasurer by the 21st April, as the SU will be delivering Student Leader Training on Tuesday 29 April and Thursday 1 May. It is a requirement that Chairs and Treasurers attend a session on one of those dates, as it is important in terms of getting to know more about your area and your roles.
If a committee member has won multiple roles and would like to step down, we need to receive an email to from them stating this. Once they have sent an email to susocieties@bath.ac.uk, you are able to co-opt a new member into that role.
The final co-opting deadline is Thursday 5 June, so you will need to have a Chair and/or Treasurer by that date. You will also have needed to have co-opted in any other roles by the 5th June.
If you have not co-opted your Chair or Treasurer by 5 June, your group is at risk of being disaffiliated.
If you have any questions, please do get in touch.
