The Nightline Association (NLA) have announced they will unfortunately be closing at the end of May 2025. The NLA is an umbrella charity that supports each Nightline branch across the UK, and their closure will be affecting all Nightlines to different degrees.
What does this mean for Bath Nightline?
Whilst we are legally owned by the SU, the NLA has been one of our biggest stakeholders and provided a lot of support for us over the years. This includes a lot of the software that we use as well as an "accreditation" process which ensures we are operating at the highest quality standard.
As a result of the closure, we are currently in discussions with the University of Bath and SU to determine the future of Bath Nightline. This means we will continue to run our service till the end of this academic year, but we are unsure if we will continue operating next year.
To help inform this decision, we're eager to get some feedback about if and how Nightline has supported you during your time as a student. If you'd like to share your thoughts then please fill out a quick form here.
Changes to our service
As we adapt to the NLA's closure, you might see some changes to the way we operate in the next few months:
Officially, the NLA stopped hosting the domain for our old website (https://bath.nightline.ac.uk/) on 09/03/2025. You might still be able to access our old website at the time of reading this, however this website will soon become unavailable.
As a result, we've temporarily moved our website to our SU Groups page. On this page, you will find all our information as usual. If you'd like to use our Instant Messaging service, please check out our "Want to Talk?" to find the link. This will link you to an external website, so if you are currently logged into your SU account we will not be able to see who is messaging us. Our IM service is anonymous as always!
As of 28/02/2025, we officially no longer offer an email service for students. Unfortunately, there are no alternative programmes available to us that can adequately anonymise users emails. Rather than compromise the values of our service, we in agreement with the SU decided to cease the use of our email service. However, we still offer our phone call service (the number is on the back of your library card) and our Instant Messaging service as mentioned before.
We appreciate this may seem quite sudden, but we aim to be as transparent as possible during this process. We will update this page as and when new information becomes available. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in contact with either our coordinators (coordinators@bath.nightline.ac.uk) or SU Advice (suadvice@bath.ac.uk).
