Why volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills and meet like minded people. Helping others even helps you too! Volunteering has been shown to boost your mental health and improve wellbeing.

CV BOOSTING
Volunteering gives you unique experiences and a chance to pick up softer skills, practical skills and extra knowledge. Potential employers love to hear what passions you pursue and what challenges you've faced that are different to those found during your studies, at a placement year or in your internship.

WELLBEING
Volunteering is good for you. Scientific studies have shown that helping others can contribute to our own happiness by experiencing more positive emotions and boosting our self-confidence. It can reduce stress and help us feel calmer too. Studies show that when we do kind things it can literally gives our brain a happiness boost.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Spending a few hours doing something for others, either something completely different or for a cause you feel passionate about really does make a huge difference to those who receive it.

"We loved having the University of Bath students come and volunteer for the packing weekend - we literally couldn’t do it without them and they were an absolute credit to your university." Christmas for CAHMS

"We’re so grateful for student volunteers, they bring so much energy and enthusiasm and we love making it a really positive experience for them.” Oasis Hub

"Our student volunteers are fantastic! They are conscientious and caring, willing to go the extra mile (or 13.1 for those who have run the Bath Half for us!) and have each made a huge impact to the BCDH team. Thank you to our student volunteers!" Bath Cats & Dogs Home

“Thank you! It has been such a great collaboration and I have enjoyed every minute.” Share & Repair
