Student Volunteering Week is a UK-wide event celebrating student volunteers and sharing the many benefits that volunteering brings. Volunteering is good for your wellbeing, gives brilliant CV boosting skills and does good for others in the community.


Here is all the activity taking place during Student Volunteering Week 12-18 February 2024:


MONDAY 12 FEBRUARY


Random Acts of Kindness Board - 09:00-17:00, Mon-Wed, The SU
Add your acts of kindness to the Chalk Board in the SU and help us to create a domino effect of kindness on campus and beyond for Student Volunteering Week.

Volunteering Pop Up - 11:00-15:00, School of Management Pavilion Cafe  
A chance to chat with the SU Volunteering and Peer Support team and student groups RAG, V Team, Bath STAR, Marrow, Enactus & Nightline Come and find out about the diverse range of volunteering you can get involved in at the University of Bath. Whether it be planting tree saplings, helping out at a local school, doing a beach clean, or supporting the Bath Half, there's so much to get involved in. TUESDAY 13 FEBRUARY (PANCAKE DAY)

RAG Pancake flipping competition - from 11:30, outside the SU on the Parade
Try out your pancake-flipping skills and raise money for RAG for a chance to win money off vouchers for a hot pancake on campus.

Repair Café - 11:00-15:00, ground floor of the SU 
Bring along your ripped coat or broken toaster and get them fixed for free by one of the friendly volunteer repairers. Student-led group V Repair supports local sustainability charity Share & Repair to run this regular event on campus

WEDNESDAY 14 FEBRUARY (VALENTINES DAY) 


Make Paper Roses to #BreakTheCycleOfAbuse - 11:00-14:00, The SU
Get creative and make paper roses for Valentine’s Day. Not only will you demonstrate your love, but also raise funds for FearFree, a charity supporting victims of abuse, sexual violence and stalking on a mission to rebuild their lives and break the cycle of domestic abuse and sexual violence forever. 
Donations welcomed! 

Volunteering in Nature - 14:00-16:00, Meet up outside Dartmouth Avenue
Come help us to enrich the parks of Bath! We gather every Wednesday in the same place. You are welcome to help with sessions that interest you or be a regular dedicated parks champion. Take this chance to do something valuable… maybe with your Valentine!

RAG Valentine’s Ball - 19:00-23:30, Claverton Rooms
Get red carpet ready, grab your besties and enjoy an evening of music, dancing and fun carnival games to spread the love this valentines. Tickets are £15 and go on sale 29 January at 13:00. All profits to RAG's Big 4 charities -Valentine's Ball

Multicultural Fair - 12:00 -14:30, The Edge
Connect with other students, meet student groups, and discover other cultures as we take you on a tour around the world. With performances from our amazing arts societies.

Information Session on Volunteer Tutoring - 13:00 -13:30, online
Are you interested in supporting pupils from low-income backgrounds in English or Maths? By volunteering for an hour a week you can support children to build their confidence and help ensure they leave school with the grades needed to build a bright future, as well as developing your own skills and boosting your CV. Join this half hour information session to find out how you can get involved.

FRIDAY 16 FEBRUARY


Careers 'Volunteer your Way to Employment' Workshop - 14:00 -15:00, Chancellors Building - Room CB 4.1
Come to this workshop to understand the benefits of volunteering and project leading for employability, and learn how to present this in interviews and on your CV in an impactful and meaningful way.

All year round you can get involved in regular or one-off volunteering by:

  1. Joining (or even helping to run) a student-led volunteering group Volunteering Groups  
  2. Dipping in to one-off or regular volunteering with a local charity of organisation in Bath Volunteering Opportunities
  3. Fundraising for the RAG (Raise & Give) charities, or do a separate fundraiser for a charity that means a lot to you Fundraising
