Bath Marrow have received the Young Volunteer Team of the Year award at the annual BANES Awards this month.
These awards recognise the amazing work that individuals and organisations do across Bath and North East Somerset to improve the lives of others and the SU is delighted that Bath Marrow were among the winners!
Marrow is a student-led volunteer group who works with the Anthony Nolan charity, improving the lives of people with blood cancer.
Students studying degrees including Biomedical Sciences and Psychology give their free time to run regular donor recruitment sessions on university campus, signing people on to the stem cell register. They also purse creative ideas and set up their own initiatives including ‘Marroween’, a bake sale and face painting stall, and ‘Marrowmas’, a Christmas raffle. They take on extra challenges to raise funds and awareness including running the Bath Half marathon.
Well done to the whole Marrow team!
