V Code Bootcamp

On Saturday 22 February, V Team's V Code project, hosted its annual FREE coding bootcamp for 32 secondary school aged girls, offering a hands-on introduction to coding and digital skills. The event
aimed to inspire future young women to explore STEM fields, with dedicated support from student leaders and volunteers, who guided the students throughout the day.

The school students began the day with a warm welcome and were quickly immersed in coding exercises, gaining valuable new skills in an inclusive and supportive environment. Throughout
the day, they were guided by 30 STEM undergraduate volunteers from the University, who provided mentorship and the opportunity to interact with the students, answering questions
about studying STEM at the University of Bath. In the afternoon, the students had the chance to hear from an inspiring lineup of 6 female guest speakers from STEM industries: Jo Hyde, Jennie
Franks, Samekah Howard, Lucie Ball, Lauren Corderoy, and Jennifer Ma, who shared their personal journeys, offering practical advice and insights to the next generation of female tech
professionals.

The event concluded with an exciting interactive quiz where participants tested their newfound knowledge, and everyone left with STEM-themed goodie bags. Special thanks go to our event
sponsor AB Dynamics and our partnering charity, Mighty Girls CIC. A huge thanks also goes to the IT team at University of Bath for all their help leading up to the event, and V Team Bath as
well as Marsha from Mighty Girls, for their unwavering support for the V Code leaders— Iona, Radhika, and Holly—throughout this project. This entirely student-led initiative was a powerful
celebration of women in tech and a stepping stone for young girls to pursue their STEM dreams. The bootcamp was a memorable and inspiring day for all involved! Excited for next year already!
