It's been a brilliant first semester with some great student led initiatives and community activities taking place!

A massive thank you to all of our volunteer groups and those who took part in the fantastic events that have taken place over this semester. Here is a summary of all of the amazing things we have made happen so far! We hope you all enjoy a well deserved break and we are looking forward to all of the projects planned for 2024.
 

  • The total amount from fundraising activity since Septemmber has been £50,112  
  • RAG have raised £5,562 for the Big 4 - Wicked Weather Watch, St Mungos, Heswell Disabled Children's Holiday Fund and Action for Children 
  • Movember raised a record breaking £33,816
  • V Run organised a successful Santa Dash which raised £360 for RAG's Big 4
  • V Clean have run 2 local litter picks with the Student Comminuty Partnership
  • V Kind held a badgemaking stall to spread kindness on campus
  • V Aware ran an online campaign raising awareness on domestic abuse, healthy relationships and how to get support.
  • V Nature worked with Your Parks to lead 4 sessions of park maintenance and tree care
  • V Collect are supporting an on-campus food collection for Genesis Trust until 18th Dec
  • V Eco have been setting up eco-education sessions for students. To join a session email am4226@bath.ac.uk
  • V Repair held it's first Repair Café in November where volunteer repairers helped students and staff by fixing their clothing and electrical items for free
  • V Schools' volunteers cleared and weeded beds at Twerton Primary School 
  • V Wildlife ran a session making bug houses to be distributed around campus to improve biodiversity
  • BUBT (Bath University Boob Team) have had a great run of activity including ‘bustamove’ with Dance Soc, a beginners jazz class, a collaboration with BUST, BUSMs & Backstage for TITs for Boobs, Pink Week with Bath Rugby, and a Life Drawing Class.
  • STAR (Student Action for Refugees) ran a Walkathon in collaboration with BUGS (Bath University Guides & Scouts) with 20 people, raising £185 for the charity Young Roots
  • Be Well Week – in collaboration with the University's Wellbeing Team, SU Volunteering helped host charities stalls, and promoted green activities at ‘Taking Action at Bath’ event
  • The SU have connected 15 groups of students with local charity partners for the School of Management Rotork challenge
  • BANES community Awards – last years V Team committee received an award for Young Volunteer Team of the Year for their amazing work during 2022-23
  • Congratulations to all our Volunteer of The Month winners
  • We have advertised 60 activities for our charity and community partners, with 526 students expressing interest in the roles
