VC Breakfast with Postgraduate Students

On Wednesday 24 January, Vice Chancellor Ian White held another VC Breakfast, this time to recognise our Postgraduate students, alongside SU Education Officer Amber.

The VC Breakfasts are held every fortnight, across the academic year and are always a wonderful opportunity to reward and recognise students for their hard work and efforts. For the latest breakfast, the VC invited members the Postgraduate community in recognition of their hard work in Semester One.

Amber chose to invite various members of Postgraduate Academic Execs, including Doctoral Rep HSS Sam Taylor for his ongoing research into developing interventions based on compassionate values, PGT Faculty Science Representative Sarah Upendra Chandrateya in acknowledgement of her manifesto focus on D&I due to her background as a woman in Computer Science and MBA Crystal Vania Clement.

Also in attendance was Ana Trebuth, who is in MBA Management, PGT Academic Executive Steven Kockaya who has been doing some impressive work in automotive design engineering and Joyeeta Kar, the PGT Exec Chair who is a staple across the SU for all the projects and committees she has been involved in.

Education Officer Amber described the event as ‘amazing’, commenting that ‘we talked about everything, from personal tutoring, activities for postgrads and the whole postgraduate experience. We were all getting on so well that we stayed longer than we should have!’. Amber added that, “everyone bought something new and truly interesting to the table and I am sincerely proud of how much they have all managed to do in their (comparatively short time compared to Undergraduate!) time as postgraduate students”.
The next VC Breakfast will be held on February 7, and will be celebrating Peer Mentors and Peer Assisted Learning.
