Congratulations to V Team Committee 22-23 who will be awarded Young Volunteer Team of the Year for their Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community at the BANES Community Awards on Wednesday 8 November.
The
Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Community Awards champion ‘unsung heroes’ who make a difference in their communities and support others. The Young Volunteer Team award is given to a young volunteer team of under 25 years old that has made an exceptional contribution to the community. Last year the winner of the Young Volunteer Team award was Nightline, the SU’s support service, for the expanded support they have given to students and supporting the volunteers themselves.
The Awards are organised by Bath & North East Somerset Council in partnership with Curo; the BANES Third Sector Group (3SG); the Student Community Partnership (University of Bath, Bath Spa University & Bath College); HCRG Care Group and BANES, Swindon, and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board.
V Team is the SU’s largest student led community group, who deliver several projects in connection with local charities and community groups, such as Share and Repair, More Trees Banes, Mighty Girls and Twerton Infant School.
Project leaders and teams of student volunteers support the delivery of each of the projects, with 100’s of students giving back to the local community each year. From organizing community clean-ups and charity fundraisers to mentoring and spreading environmental awareness, their passion, creativity, and determination have brought about positive changes and inspired hundreds of students to get involved.
Last year V Team’s, V Code project, also won Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community for the 2022-23 SU Awards, as well as several other projects receiving nominations for their amazing efforts (these included V Nature, Tree planting sessions with More Trees BANEs, V Hedgehog hedgerow survey for Hedgehog Friendly Campus, V Aware campaign with FearFree and V Clean’s local Litter picks with the student Community Partnership.
A huge well done and congratulations to this brilliant, hands-on group of students for their impact on the local community! Students who would like to find out more about how to get involved with V Team, and be part of award-winning projects, can
