20 Students slept out on the parade to raise money for local chairty.
The annual Sleep Out was held on Friday 21 April, where 20 students braved the elements and slept out on the parade overnight. The Big Sleep Out was held jointly by student fundraising group RAG (Raise & Give) and Student Halls in aid of Julian House Homeless Charity, a fantastic cause that supports vulnerable and at risk individuals. They operate more than 40 different projects across the South- West supporting more than 2000 individuals a year.
It was a damp and cold evening when our students headed to the Parade clutching sleeping bags and board games to help pass the time. With temperatures dropping to just 3 degrees, it was a huge accomplishment for the students to make it through until 08:00 the following morning. Special thanks to the Salsa Society who provided entertainment to keep spirits up during the event.
In total, they raised over £1200 for Julian House which will make a real difference.
Caitlin one of our student organisers commented, "We were pretty lucky with the weather as the rain held up but it did get ver cold, it was lovely to wake up to the sounds of the ducks and the whole experience was very upbeat"
This is an amazing accomplishment. A massive well done to all the students who took place and a special thanks to everyone who donated.
