SUmmit
SUmmit is our body of student leaders who come together to democratically establish Standpoints (SU stances on a given issue) and hold the SU Officers to account. We have recently updated the processes and membership of SUmmit and as such this is an exciting time to join and be a part of shaping the student voice.
Each year we appoint a student Chair of SUmmit, who chairs the 4 meetings as well as working with staff to ensure the processes are followed, and with student leaders to shape Standpoints. Applications for our 2024/25 Chair are now open, email a covering letter expressing your interest and experience relevant to the role (no more than 500 words) to sureturningofficer@bath.ac.uk by 29 September and the Nominations Panel will consider your application and invite you to an interview if you are shortlisted.
Democratic Procedures Team (DPT)
The SU has a team of students and Officers who support the Returning Officer and their deputies to deliver fair and inclusive democratic procedures at the SU. This is a great opportunity if you are interested in democracy and are keen to get stuck in and provide ideas.
DPT has a student Chair who is appointed by the SU Nominations Panel. Want to be involved but not sure about being Chair?
If you’re not sure if being Chair is for you but you still want to be involved we have 20 student member places on SUmmit, and 4 student member places on DPT which are elected. Elections for these will open on Wednesday 25 September.
Nominations are open Wednesday 25 September 12:00 (midday) and close Monday 7 October 12:00 (midday).
Voting for nominated candidates opens Wednesday 9 October 17:00 and closes Monday 14 October 12:00 (midday).
All posts, Chair and student member will receive training and ongoing support throughout the roles.
