Quoracy for this referendum was 1,079.

By remaining affiliated The SU will continue to pay the fee to be a member of NUS UK, elected student delegates from The SU will attend and represent University of Bath students at NUS National Conference and NUS Liberation Conference, and The SU can engage with national campaigns led by NUS UK.

UCU support

As a result of our referendum, our student community have voted for The SU to support industrial action called by the UCU during the 2023/24 academic year.

The results were as follows:

1365 students voted in the referendum asking “Should The SU support industrial action called by the UCU during the 2023/24 academic year?”
663 voted ‘YES’
524 voted ‘NO’
178 voted ‘ABSTAIN’
Quoracy for this referendum was 1,079.

UCU held a re-ballot recently which did not meet 50% turnout threshold set by the Government, therefore UCU nationally does not currently have a legal mandate for industrial action. This means that there is no imminent industrial action due to take place. The outcome of this referendum, to support will mean that should industrial action be called by UCU in the academic year 2023/24 (this includes until the end of the summer vacation 2024), The SU will be able to faster respond.
