Off Campus Space

We’re excited to share some updates about the future of our off-campus spaces.

The university lease for Dartmouth Avenue in Oldfield Park will come to an end at the end of August 2024, however, we’ve been working closely with the University to find new locations that will continue to support our vibrant student community.

Over the years, Dartmouth Avenue has been home to some of our key activities, including:

  • The Student Community Partnership
  • The SU Lounge – a place for students to relax, work, and socialise
  • Boxing training for the Boxing Club
  • Snooker and pool for Cue Sports
  • A dedicated Dance Studio
  • Spaces for our student groups to host events, activities, and meetings.

We’re pleased to announce that these activities will not only continue but will thrive in their new homes:

  • Cue Sports will relocate to The Virgil Building on Manvers Street, ready for the start of the new academic year.
  • Boxing will move to Carpenter House, with the space ready for the club to use at the start of the academic year.
  • Scala. The University has acquired a fantastic new space above the Co-Op in Oldfield Park, adjacent to the new Scala Accommodation. This large, spacious area will be available for booking by student groups for a wide range of activities, this will be coordinated via The SU. The SCP team will also be based here. Work is already underway to create an inviting space where students can connect with each other and the local community. More details on bookings for this space coming soon!
  • Virgil Building. Additionally, exciting renovations are in progress at The Virgil Building to create a new student lounge. This space will offer pool tables, and plenty of room to relax and catch up with friends right in the city centre.

We’re looking forward to welcoming you into these new spaces and continuing to build a strong, supportive community both on and off-campus.
