Education Awards 2024

A celebration of academic excellence over the past Academic Year.

Last night we held the Annual Education Awards at the Apex hotel in Bath.  The Education Awards are a chance for us to join as a community of staff and students to celebrate academic excellence over the past Academic Year. Throughout the evening, we celebrated and rewarded staff and students in the key areas of Academic Representation and peer Support, as well as within the University Teaching Awards.

Over 180 staff and students attended and enjoyed a drinks reception and meal. We were lucky to be entertained by ChaOS’s Big Band throughout the evening which was so special.

New for this year an Honorary Degree was presented to Anthony Payne for his outstanding contribution to Student Support during his time at Bath.

Amber Snary, SU Education Officer said “I am just absolutely, amazingly ecstatic about how the evening went. After months of planning, it is so strange to see it all come to fruition, and being able to reward and recognise such amazing students is always so super heart-warming. Having an honorary degree presented to Anthony, who was instrumental in developing Disability Access Plans here at Bath, was just absolutely the cherry on the top (alongside, of course, being able to do a double-act with Julian). I can’t wait for the students to hear all the amazing things said about them, and want to give another massive thank you to all those who helped organise it – you are truly stars!”

We want to give a special mention to Pen Mackintosh who was awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Education at Bath (Student Award). We had three brilliant students who were highly commended in this category but Penn who also received two other awards during the evening has shown consistent commitment to Education and making the experience the best it can be for their peers.

Huge congratulations to all the wonderful nominees and winners and the staff involved in putting together a memorable event.
