University of Bath dominate weekends triathlon country-wide

Now that race season is in full swing, Uni of Bath Triathletes have been dominating all over the country. The 3rd July saw 10 of our athletes in action.
Daniel Thorby had the performance of his life at the Outlaw half, coming 10th out of over 1000 competitors and, more importantly, beating his dad! Dan also won his age group with Tom Crawford in 4th.
Down South, Ash led from the start to win the women's Sprint event at the Weymouth middle distance tri as well as coming second overall. Luke Voss put down the fastest swim and run splits of the day in the Olympic distance event, however a puncture on the bike cost him overall victory and he finished in third.
Claudia Kelsall, Lucy Scott and Molly Hodges took on the Peak District sprint Triathlon and Michael Beech the Standard. Everyone put in a some strong performances on a brutal course. Lucy and Claudia were both trying to qualify for europeans next year and should have secured their spots. Claudia won the 20-24 age category with a fantastic time on the bike and of course smashing the run as usual despite the fact she fell over going up the massive hill! Michael Beech also won his category convincingly and came 6th overall.
Finally, Jim Kay and James Wootton were in action at the Clevedon Triathlon. It was another tough course with a hilly run to finish but both showed their strength with James coming 7th and Jim 20th overall.
