At a ceremony yesterday in Westminster’s Porticullis House, The University of Bath Students' Union received a national Gold Award for providing Bath students with an excellent student experience.
It is one of four students' unions across the country to achieve GOLD, awarded by Student Union Evaluation Initiative (SUEI). Working in partnership with the National Union of Students and supported by the Department of Innovation, Universities and Skills, the Student Union Evaluation Initiative judges against criteria including how unions engage, represent and support students, as well as the overall management of the organisation.
NUS Vice President for Union Development Ed Marsh said about the University of Bath Students’ Union: “The Auditors reported that the staff team have continued to innovate, to support and to provide a 'can do' attitude which is so important in Students' Unions. Their professionalism and drive have also been contributing factors in the Union's continued success. The Sabbatical Team are to be congratulated on their work in ensuring they have good engagement with members and the amount of time they spend in connecting with members is a substantial part of their work.”
Chief Executive Ian Robinson said: "This prestigious award is a reflection of the dedication and commitment of the Union's staff and students who provide such excellent service and advice to our 14,000 members. We are all very proud to have been recognised for the hard work we do representing students and helping them get the most out of their time at University."
The Students' Union President David Howells said: "We are absolutely thrilled to get this award and it encourages us to keep moving forward with innovative and inspirational ways of supporting and representing our students."
