Associate Deans Visit

Ladies who lunch… By Lisa Benjamin
Last Thursday the University of Surrey’s Associate Deans came to visit.  Myself and Charlie were invited to dine with them, on account of our dazzling wit and natural charm I assume.  Lunch was delicious, once you got past the over cooked pasta and chicken swimming in butter and decorated with berries (Oh Wessex Restaurant chefs, what were you thinking?).  The Associate Deans were lovely and very interested in the good work going on here in the SU.  Charlie and I waxed lyrical about how superb the SU is whilst demurely sipping drinks with our pinkies held aloft.  Come and find Charlie or me if you would like more information about the visit or more culinary feedback on the Wessex Restaurant.

SOS Update

As of Tuesday 30th Jan we have had 1,706 students take part in the SOS survey which is up by 300 from last year. This is good news however we do want to try and reach the 2000 target so if you can all give it one last push before it ends of Friday 3rd that would be fantastic.

Get to Know You - Laura Winwood

> How long have you worked at BUSU?
It will be a year in May

> What is your favourite film?
A tough question. It depends on the mood.. right now I'd say John Woo's 'Hard Boiled', tomorrow it might be 'Before Sunset'. I can always find time to watch 'My Fair Lady' or 'Dr Horribles Sing-a-long blog' though.

> Who is your favourite band?
You ask the hardest questions! Right now I can't stop listening to Fleetwood Macs 'Rumors' and Florence and the Machine.

> What place in the world would you most like to visit?
Japan. I want to go to Nara to see the temples and see Kyoto and Tokyo.

> What did you want to be when you were younger?
A vet, I stopped wanting to be a vet when I discovered I would have to stick my hand up cows bums.

> One funny fact about you?
I was born profoundly deaf, so until I was 6 I thought Dalmation dogs were called 'Tarnation dogs' and because I was lip reading I would add an few extra letters to 'disappearance' to make it diss-apiss-arance'.
