Life in Student Radio: Get Involved with URB

Greg James. Jack Saunders from Radio X. Nick Grimshaw. What do they have in common? They all started off on student radio. So what better way to thoroughly immerse yourself in student life then getting involved with your very own student radio station URB! There are many perks and joys of getting involved with URB, and we’re here to run you through why you should get involved.

We’re a social bunch:

Being social at university is vital, and URB is a great way to meet new people, make friends and make contacts that can help you with the future. With socials regularly occurring and great events run by URB, you will always have the opportunity to meet new people and get friendly. You’ll never be lonely here!!

Learning New Skills:

Joining URB will allow you to learn new skills and give you the opportunity to use new equipment and software linked with the media industry. If you want to learn how to DJ, then URB has you covered. If you want to present your own radio programmes, then URB can train you to do so. If you want to produce your own show or write your own content for URB, then guess what – we have you covered! URB prides itself on allowing people to thrive and grow, and with a wide range of things to learn, there isn’t a better environment to learn in..

Broadening your Musical Horizons:

As a student radio station, we obviously love our music. All genres and all artists get the same love from URB. We host a wide range of shows on the station, from entertainment shows designed to entertain students throughout the day to our specialist genre programmes dedicated to specific genres such as indie music, rock and grime. URB allows students to experience wide ranges of music and always keeps your musical taste up to date and occupied..

How to get involved?

So now that we’ve teased you with some of the perks (there are more, you have to get involved to discover them yourself), you’re probably wondering how you can get involved?
