Details

We’re thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for students to drive real change at the University of Bath. As a Community Organiser, you’ll be at the heart of student engagement — building campaigns, amplifying student voices, and working closely with SU Officers and staff to tackle the issues that matter most. A key part of your role will involve supporting initiatives that respond to the cost-of-living crisis, including running the SU food pantry and helping students access essential support. You’ll also play a central role in organising and delivering campaigns that raise awareness, influence change, and push for better conditions for students facing financial hardship. These roles have been developed to increase flexibility, creativity, and student leadership capacity, ensuring students feel empowered to lead change that directly improves their lives.

  • Shaping creative outreach activities to engage with students and build relationships with student communities to understand where the cost of living crisis is impacting students; and identifying opportunities or projects that would alleviate those issues.
  • Working closely with Students Officers and Staff on creating impactful campaigns to address cost of living crisis.
  • Identifying opportunities and activities that save students money and working with Marketing & Comms Team and other key stakeholders to raise awareness to students through a variety of channels, alongside information on where financial support is available.
  • Working with key staff and officers to set up and manage the SU food pantry. This includes designing a process for students to access the pantry (in collaboration with Officers and staff), ordering and stocking the pantry with items and covering access times.
  • Working with officers and staff to design approaches to longer term sustainability of the Pantry project by working with colleagues to develop a system to demonstrate impact, gathering data and insight from our students and sector activities, and by supporting key stakeholders to apply for additional longer term funding.
  • You may be required to prepare reports or presentations as part of this work, or run focus groups of students (with support of relevant staff).
  • Looking at best practises from across the sector in order to improve the food pantry operations.

We are looking for students who:

  • Are passionate about making a difference and leading campaigns for change.
  • Are approachable and excellent communicators who can build trust and meaningful relationships.
  • Show creativity, initiative, and drive in working independently and collaboratively.
  • Have lived experience or a strong understanding of student challenges.
  • Are willing to learn community organising techniques and apply them in practice.

Then this might be the role for you!
