Hey everyone,

I hope you're all enjoying the first semester so far! We have some exciting updates, so let’s dive right in.

Dedicated Dharmic Space on Campus - We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve secured a dedicated Dharmic Space here at the University of Bath! This space is a welcoming room with our Idols we are aiming to provide a safe space for students and staff of Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Buddhist traditions to find a quiet place for reflection, meditation, and prayer. We’re working closely with the University to set up the space, and we’re planning an opening ceremony later this semester. Stay tuned for more details!

Major Festivals Bonfire - Another major win, we’ve received approval for a big bonfire celebration on campus to mark Dusshera, Lohri, and Choti Diwali! We will be the first Hindu Society in the UK to celebrate these festivals in such a way. These events are going to be huge, and we’re so excited to celebrate them together. While we couldn’t host Dusshera this year due to a delay with the fire pit delivery, we’re working on organizing a bonfire night soon to make up for it!

International Trip: Morocco Wins the Vote! - Anika has been leading the planning for our international trip. After narrowing down our options to Turkey and Morocco based on the easy visa process for international and UK students, cost, and weather, Morocco came out as the winner by just three votes on Groups Day. The trip will take place during the Inter-Semester break in January (around the 28th of January till the 1st of February) we will have packages ranging from £200 to £350. To help us move forward with planning, reserve your spot on the trip by filling out this form.

Streamlined Event Management - To streamline event management, particularly for large gatherings, we advocated for a new e-ticketing system and trialled it with the SU during our Diwali Celebration, which saw over 350 attendees! This system is designed to make ticket distribution and checking easier. After more event trials, the system will be rolled out to all SU groups. A big thanks to William Kitchen for supporting us and setting this up.

Collaborations with South Asian Groups - One of our main goals this year is to work more closely with other South Asian groups on campus to represent and celebrate our diverse cultures together. Our Diwali Celebration was the start of these joint efforts, and we’re planning more collaborative events to unite our communities.

New Look & Improved Accessibility - We’ve completely redesigned our logo and webpage for a more streamlined, accessible image that reflects our goals. The new logo is simpler, making it easier to use across platforms and alongside partner logos. Additionally, we’ve improved accessibility by integrating our Linktree onto our webpage. Kasturi has also created a helpful FAQ for Freshers and is now working on committee and member merchandise. More on this soon!

That’s all for now—exciting times ahead! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or just want to chat.

Much love,
Adi
