Durdle Door, Dorset

Durdle Door is a must-see for any trip ! England’s first natural UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its limestone cliffs and natural arches, this coastal path is one of the prettiest walks and beaches in the UK.

Join us on a unmissbale summer trip to the Jurassic Coast and explore the natural landscape of the south coast's greatest landmark.

Durdle Door in the summer

There's plenty of things to do and see - whether you want to relax with a picnic on the shingle beach or explore the beautiful landscape by foot with plenty of walking routes, the Dorset coast offers an exciting time for everyone...

Walking the coast path to the east of Durdle Door brings you to the famous Lulworth and Stair Hole - a hidden wonder. The walk between the two sites takes 30 minutes up and down a steep, but spectacular, walking path. This is a truly stunning walk along the cliffs and back through rolling countryside and a pretty village where you can enjoy panoramic views.

Legend has it, the rocks are approximately 140 million years old and the structure is about 200 feet tall.

Good things to know:

There are facilities at Lulworth Cove, so if you want to have some food or get an ice cream, you can treat yourself at the very end of your walk. Both beaches are pebbly so if you plan to spend some time on the beach, we would suggest bringing a yoga mat or something with some padding to sit on – it will make it much more comfortable! It is possible to swim in the area, although there are steep ledges in places and there is no lifeguard on duty here so great care must be taken.

Drop into the visitor centre to find out tide times, and get maps and guides to the local area. They have lots of helpful information and interesting displays which show how Lulworth and Durdle Door was formed.
