A world famous icon, Stonehenge is belived to be 5000 years old, It has fascinated archaeologists, astronomers, historians and visitors for many years.
Take some time to find out about the stones history in the stonehenge visitors centre, wander around some neolithic house then hop on the visitors bus to see the stone circle in all it's glory! Then browse the gift shop and take a well-earned break from the cold in the Cafe.
In the afternoon we head to Salisbury, where you can explore this cathedral city with captivating history at your leisure. At the heart of the city is the cathedral itself, boasting the tallest sprire in England (404 feet). There are also many independent traders in the city serving curious travellers with unusual and quirky gifts. Luckily, the vibrant bustling charter market also takes place every Saturday in Market Place so you will be able to sample some local produce!
Coach Pick-up times:
- East Car park (Campus): 08:30
- Corn Street (Bath City Centre): 8:50
Depart Salisbury:
- 17:00 (expected return to Bath at 18:15-18:30
Important information:
- The times listed on the event are from when the coach will leave the campus in the morning, until an approximate arrival back to Bath. You will be asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to departure, for boarding, in order to ensure the coach leaves on time. Arrival times to the destination and back to Bath are subject to traffic, weather and road conditions, which are beyond our control, so we cannot guarantee exact time/s of arrival.
- The trips will go ahead regardless of weather conditions, so please do come prepared. This excludes extreme or dangerous weather, where we would, of course, cancel for your safety. In the event that we cancel the trip, you would be fully refunded.
- If you can no longer attend the trip, you may transfer your ticket to another student. Please ensure you inform us in writing to su-trips@bath.ac.uk. Also, quite often we have a waiting list so we may be able to put you in contact with a student waiting for a ticket.
Photography and Filming: We have photographers and film makers at some of our events to capture footage to share online and for use in future promotional materials. If you don't want to be featured, please inform a member of the Community office: su-trips@bath.ac.uk
