Event: Race to Paris

Friday 25 October 2024 at 7am - 9pm

Europe!

Join us for the BIGGEST EVENT OF THE YEAR as we introduce Race to Paris 2024!

Race to Paris is a challenge where 26 teams of 2 will go head-to-head in a who can get from Bath to Paris first. However, the teams will not be allowed use money or their phones! Think BBC’s ‘Race Across the World’ without a budget…

To find out more information about Race to Paris 2024, join us for a Q&A info session in the Tub from 4pm-5pm on the 30th September, or pop into the Edge and chat to Hazel, the Fundraising Coordinator.

So how will you get to Paris??? Well, that’s for you to decide! You may decide to hitch hike, using the generosity of strangers to get you to your destination. You might negotiate with train conductors, bus drivers or ferry companies to let you take a ride for free, or perhaps you could negotiate a train to Dover for just a pack of Gregg’s sausage rolls… Or perhaps you’re lucky enough to bump into someone who happens to know a pilot that offers to fly you directly to Paris… there’s only one way to find out!

But that’s not all! Along the way you will be given a list of challenges to complete for extra points. This may be taking a selfie with a stranger called Paul, talk about the challenge on the radio, or perhaps try a French delicacy… But you won’t know your challenges until you set off on your adventure. The team that make it to Paris with the most amount of points (lots of extra bonus points if you are the first team to arrive in Paris!) will be crowned the winners of Race to Paris 2024 and win a cheeky little prize to top it all off!

And the cherry on top of this challenge! It is a fundraising event, which means all proceeds go to RAG’s Top Two charities – Voices and Great Western Air Ambulance! Each individual will be required to raise £250 before they depart on their adventure on the 25th October. Don’t worry if you are a bit worried about hitting this target, we have a wonderful team of experienced fundraisers available to support you!

Your safety is our top priority and therefore we have considered all aspects of the event to make sure you are safe throughout the duration.  Below are just some of the safety measures:

  • Despite not being able to use your phone, you will of course still have your phones on you for communication with the event team and emergency calls.
  • A whole team of SU staff and volunteers based in both the UK and France will ensure your safety for the entirety of the challenge.
  • All participants will be required to keep the event team regularly updated on their progress, telling us every time you get in a new vehicle.
  • All participants must share their live location via google maps with the event team so we can see where you are at all times.
  • Everyone must attend an in-person safety briefing prior to the event.

For just £70 per person, you will get a nights stay in a Paris hotel, travel back from Paris on the Sunday and a social in one of the most iconic cities in the world (or you can choose to explore the city with some freetime)! Not to mention priceless memories and the once in a lifetime journey to France.

You must be 18+ to take part in this event.

Tickets go on sale on 1st October at 13:00

Please note: tickets are sold in pairs, which means one ticket will cost £140 and gain entry into the challenge for 2 people. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE A TICKET EACH.
