One bright spotlight.
A four-person judging panel.
And here goes the voice of Troy Bolton, and then the music.
And so, the dancing starts...
I’m sure a few of you heard – or maybe even more unfortunately for me – watched the Strictly Come Dancing event that happened on campus on Friday and Saturday last week. I was one of the celebrity dancers, and my partner and I did the Viennese waltz. Again, sorry if you had to see my non-existent dance skills and my poor portrayal of the generational gem Gabriella Montez. But I promise you, I did my best. And my partner, Ben, certainly went above and beyond to teach me. Here’s a public shoutout to him for putting up with my hectic schedule, poor dancing, and overall inability to give this event all it deserved! I did want to congratulate the Latin and Ballroom committee for putting this together. It was very impressive, and we raised over £1000 for charity! The livestream is worth a watch – certainly not for me, but for everyone else involved. I’m sure you can find it on their Instagram bio.
Let me use this as an excuse to encourage you to give it a go! Run an event for your club, involve people from other societies, and invite us (officers) to come along. This event was a massive, big love letter to our student community, I thought, as it brought so many of us together and reminded me the amazingly diverse community we have at Bath. And talking about events that bring us all together...
Happy seventh year in a row of winning Varsity month! (I need a catchier title for this celebration).
If you haven’t heard yet (which would sincerely worry me) we kept the trophy at home yet one more year. I am telling you, wearing the Bath superhero outfit for the whole day is good luck! So is going to Score. Which, by the way, made it very hard for me to make it in one piece to our SU group awards the next day. Yet another event to celebrate our community, our groups, and the contributions that several of you have made to this year. The event went fabulously, except for my speeches being somewhat interrupted by my own lack of voice. Though a couple more things happened in these last two weeks, I’ll leave it here, as it makes me quite happy that we have so much to celebrate about our student community in such a short span of time. I’ll see some of you at Blues Awards tomorrow. In the meantime, stay studious (good luck with those deadlines by the way) and kind to one another!
Much love,
