Hello!
It’s been a while, I am not very good at writing these kind of things, much better at talking to a camera or updating in front of an audience, but hey we all have our strengths. Bit ironic as I did an A Level in English Literature and Language. However, I’ve been asked to write one so I’m going to attempt to do so.
I’ve decided my blogs from now on aren’t going to cover me, and what I get up to, as to be honest, it’s not that interesting! I am going to talk about you guys! Your clubs, your fixtures, results, big achievements and successes. With maybe the odd important achievement of mine in this roll.
So…where do we start?
Archery are off to a flying start to the year, absolutely smashing their membership numbers! It’s great to see niche clubs thriving, as well as the students trying out a whole range of different sports, as University is most definitely the place to try something new!
Rugby Union had 9 teams out on a Wednesday, with a mixture of both BUCS and non-BUCS fixtures. This is a fantastic development for the club and showcases the talent we have in this sport here at the Uni. The Women’s team in particular are storming through the league and cup, picking up bonus points and clean sheets against almost every team they trample…I see a promotion on the horizon.
Yoga are providing an offer, bigger than any other club, with a yoga session available to attend on almost every single day of the week, including a Bath Active session. It’s fantastic to see a once society, thrive as a sport club.
Congratulations to Latin and Ballroom for hosting their Bath Winter Friendly competition, seeing 13 Universities compete. The event was massively successful, bringing in over £3000 in profit for the club, as well, some couples placed in the final! This was a wonderful event for mingling across universities as well as an incredibly well organised and fun day!
I’ve heard that Bath Cue Sports 4th pool team had an outstanding performance last weekend at the Southwest 8 Ball tournament. They battled through a tough group stage and managed to reach the final of the Teams Trophy! They came back up against Bristol 2nds who played against in their group stage earlier in the day. Sadly, they lost 6-3 to the strong Bristol 2nd team, but put in such an impressive performance for what was the first team’s tournament for everyone in the team.
Semester 1 has been busy for us all, and the success has been huge! Good luck on your Wednesdays and weekends…please message me about your results or achievements and I’ll report on them the best I can!
