What have I been BAKING UP in Semester One?

Hello my loves! When I haven't been studying cheese, watching Dan and Phil on repeat because it is horrific outside and I need some form of comfort watching, or desperately (DESPERATELY) trying to reach my 100 book goal on Goodreads, I have been hard at work.

I have also been stress baking.

So, it turns out that if you have been baking for your friends and colleagues for about half a decade, the greatest compliment is when they eat it up so quickly you never get a photo. The con of this, of course, is when you realise you can apply for Great British Bake off and that you have no photos.

My application, by the way, is now in (hoping this blog post doesn't jinx it!) – and my greatest achievement (in my humble opinion) was my raspberry tart – homemade golden pastry, crème diplomat, meticulously ordered raspberries – it was GORGEOUS and took DAYS on and off to make – here, have a photo.

On a more -workish- note though, let me tell you about some of the highlights of the last semester through a way now ingrained in my brain. Recipe cards. (P.S., recipe for double ginger cookies – a super easy slightly festive fave at the end!)

Recipe card for engagement monitoring/sourdough bread. Text is across two columns and reads as follows. Why? Long-term, all about care, and needs nurturing to make sure it is at its best shape, as well as making sure everyones needs are balanced - engagement monitoring is like a good sourdough. Whats Happened? A whole host of consultation with students across Senate, Academic Exec & Council, SUmmit, Faculty Forums and Focus Groups. Whats Next? Working out data concerns, making more of a solid idea of what y’all want to see, and continuing to represent your concerns.

A recipe card for the IMC phrasebank as macarons. Text is in two columns and reads as follows. Why? A true labour of love, and something I have spent a LOT of time trying to get right, the macaron is a perfect representation of the phrasebank What's Happened? A phrasebank is available to all students which gives example phrases and evidence to help you get in an IMC! What's Next? Greater work on reworking the IMC system - but for now, this is open to all students and being distributed via SU Advice & Support.

A recipe card for graduation policy for trans students as layer cake. Text is in two columns and reads as follows. Why? The amount of people involved, the sheer love and patience of registry, and the input from our LGBT society - layer cake brings together a lot of inputs into one gorgeous cohesive whole. Whats happened? The policy for trans students at graduations has been integrated into general graduation advice, and is more thoroughly signposted. Whats next? A specific blog post on guidance of graduations for if you are a trans student - watch this space!

A recipe card for university challenge as eclairs. Text is in two columns and reads as follows. Why? It takes time, it takes structure, it takes a balance (of subjects). Crispy choux pastry as our rigorous testing, and the sweet filling as the joy of getting to interview stage. What's happened? A University Challenge team has been formed, and has been invited to interview! Whats next?We all keep our fingers and toes crossed while we wait to see the outcome (and hopefully the team on the telly!)

Okay and now a real recipe...
