Long time no talk!
It feels like it has been ages since I have written a blog article. I don’t even know where to start…
I guess the main thing is that we have officially survived Freshers Week (wohoooo)! It was such a fun week (more like week and a half including move in weekend) but man was it tiring! It was really amazing to meet so many new students and to be able to catch up with old ones! All the Arena nights were so fun as well, especially Toga night! I loved wearing my dark blue toga, especially because when I was a fresher I didn’t wear one- so this was my time to make up for it! The FWEMs did such an amazing job and worked so hard the whole of Freshers Week- they definitely deserve all the praise they get! I am so proud to be able to call them my friends.
We also had our first international Tea and Talk event which went really well! We had over 50 people attending from so many countries around the world like Costa Rica, Kazakhstan and the US! Everyone was super friendly and had an amazing time making new connections and friends which is exactly the point of the event. Our next one is just around the corner as well, on October 20 so if you haven’t signed up yet- I would definitely recommend that you do!
We also went door knocking with the SCP (Student Community Partnership) last week, which was both very intimidating and fun. I found it really scary at the beginning to go up to strangers’ doors and knock and talk to them about things like how to get a parking permit, who to complain to if they have issues with their landlord or their house, or about how to get a parking permit. But everybody that opened the door ended up being super friendly and was happy to engage with us, which was such a nice surprise! I am actually really excited to be able to do it again!
Anyways, I think this is it for now! I will be running the Bath Half this Sunday, so might see some of you guys around there! Wish me luck (I am a bit scared in case you can’t tell haha)!
Talk to you guys later!
