There's lots societies can do at the Edge. Here committees can find out everything they need to know to make the most of what’s available for their groups.

Shows and Events

Each year, societies host dozens of shows and events in the Edge! From large-scale musicals to band nights and everything in between, the Edge is the perfect venue to showcase society's creative activity.

Shows and Events Planning Process

Once you have your Edge show/event slot booked with the SU Arts team it’s time to get planning! For small shows/events this should be at least 6 weeks out, but larger shows can take months to plan.

Arrange Technical support

If you are hosting in either of our Theatres or need more than a single microphone/speaker, you will need technical support for your event. This means that not only will your event have all the bells and whistles to make it a success, but we also know that it will be done safely. You have two options for technical support:

  1.

Request support from Backstage Technical Services (a fellow SU Society). Their members collaborate on student shows to provide a range of technical support including lighting, sound, stage-management, set design. They will generally charge a flat production rate per event.

Find out more about booking here.

  1.

Use SU Arts Casual Technicians. Available for hire on an hourly basis this is a less collaborative process but is a great option for smaller events.

Drop us an email to su-arts@bath.ac.uk to enquire and book.

Complete an Event Planner

As per SU group rules, shows/events in the Edge need an event planner completed

Complete either an Edge Ticket Form OR an Edge Event Information Form.

Note the longer your tickets are on sale, the more opportunity there is for them to sell!

  1.

The Edge Ticket Form should be completed if you are selling tickets and/or your show is in The Edge Theatre or Weston Studio.

The Event Information Form should be filled in for all other events in the Edge.

The Edge Societies Guide

We publish a yearly guide for societies on using the Edge. This should have all of the details you need as a society to use the space. Please read it carefully if you are on committee for a group with bookings in the Edge.
