Competing with Bath Cuesports
As a member of the society, you'll have the chance to travel and compete against other universities across England. Whether you're picking up a cue for the first time or you're already a sharp player, there's a tournament here for you — covering English 8 Ball, Snooker, and American 9 Ball.
THE SEASON
BRT Trials — October
(English 8 Ball)
Trials for the British Regional Tournament. Play well here and you'll earn a spot representing our region — Southwest and Wales — at a national student 8 ball tournament in Manchester.
Southwests & Southeasts — October/November
(English 8 Ball)
Two smaller competitions for southern universities, and one of the easiest ways to get your first taste of competitive play. Individual and team events run at both, split into a Championship category for 1st teams and a Trophy category for 2nd teams and below — so there's a level for everyone.
BUCS 9 Ball — November
(American 9 Ball, BUCS)
Our first BUCS event of the year, and one of the only chances all season to play American 9 Ball competitively for the society. Held over four days in Leeds, with students representing Bath and competing for BUCS medals.
BRT — End of January
(English 8 Ball)
For anyone who qualified through BRT Trials: a huge three-day team competition in Manchester, going up against the strongest regional sides in the country.
Southerns — February
(English 8 Ball)
A two-day competition in Hatfield, and one of our favourites on the calendar. Think of it as a bigger Southwests/Southeasts, and a great warm-up for BUCS 8 Ball.
BUCS 8 Ball — February
(English 8 Ball, BUCS)
The main event. Four days in Stoke-on-Trent, with universities from across Britain competing for the team and individual titles.
BUCS Snooker — March
(Snooker, BUCS)
Our final BUCS event of the year, and the only snooker competition on our calendar. Held in Leeds over four days, with team and individual competitions to close out the season.
Summer Competitions — Summer (outside term time)
(English 8 Ball, Snooker, American 9 Ball)
Our season doesn't stop when term ends. Members also take part in various summer competitions across the country, giving you the chance to keep playing competitively even outside of the academic year.
PLAY AT HOME FIRST
You don't need to travel to compete. Alongside the fixtures above, we run our own internal competitions for members — a low-pressure way to build match experience and meet the rest of the society.
- Monthly Tournaments — free to enter, run during our regular sessions at The Plug, our local venue. Every result earns you ranking points across the year.
- Semester Leagues — separate 8 Ball and Snooker leagues run each semester, giving everyone regular, structured match play.
