Event: SU Trips - Brownsea Island

Saturday 13 July 2024 at 8am - 6:30pm

Brownsea Island, Poole

The island sits in the middle of Poole Harbour, with dramatic views to the Purbeck Hills.

Your Brownsea adventure starts with a short ferry trip where you can take a walk through the island's woods and follow the footpaths to see glorious views across Poole Harbour.

Impressively, it is one of the few places left in the UK where you can catch a glimpse of a red squirrel.

Thriving natural habitats, including woodland, heathland and a lagoon, have created havens for wildlife, such as a huge variety of birds, including the Sandwich tern. You'll also find peacocks wandering near the 19th-century church.

The island is also steeped in history, including Brownsea Castle, a Device Fort constructed by Henry VIII in 1545.
