Event: Workshop 'Framing your Volunteering for Employability'

Tuesday 08 February 2022 at 1:15pm - 2:15pm

Chancellors Building (CB) 4.16

Led by an experienced Careers Advisor, this in-person interactive workshop has been specially designed to give you the tools needed to enable you to sell your skills and experience gained through volunteering.

Volunteering develops many skills that are desirable in future employment – but often we don’t recognise that we are developing them. This workshop will look at how to sell your skills and experience of volunteering to future employers (or business plans for investors)

By attending this interactive workshop you will:

  • Understand the benefits of volunteering and project leading for employability
  • Know how you can present this on a CV in an impactful and meaningful way
  • Learn how to talk about this in an interview –storytelling, collecting a ‘bank’ of examples from your experience.
  • Have reflected with others on skills you might have gained in your volunteering.
  • Know where to find useful resources to help you with articulating your volunteering experiences in applications and interviews

The workshop is open to all students who are involved in volunteering in the broadest sense, for example, community volunteers, committee members, project leaders, peer mentors, coaches etc. or anyone who feels this would be useful.

This workshop has been created for SU Volunteers in collaboration with Bath University Careers Team.
